19 Critically Injured In Steam Leak At Tata Steel Plant in Odisha's Dhenkanal

DhenkanalIn a major accident at the Tata Steel Plant in Dhenkanal in Odisha, 19 workers of the plant were seriously injured after steam pipeline burst. Now, all 19 victims have been admitted to a private hospital in Cuttack.
After receiving the information, the district administration and police reached the spot. An inquiry has been initiated into the incident. Panic struck the plant employees following the incident.
The incident took place when the repair work at the steam pipe of the Tata Steel power plant was underway on Tuesday afternoon.
During the repair, the valve of the steam pipe was opened, and hot water came out of it. As a result, the water fell on some officers along with the engineers and labourers who were doing the repair work.
19 people were seriously injured in the incident. Initially, all of victims were rescued in critical condition and given first aid at the medical facility on the company premises. They were later shifted to a private hospital in Cuttack.
Immediately after the accident, all the emergency protocol services were activated and the area was cordoned off. The Company said it is ensuring all necessary information and support to the families of the affected personnel.
"We are working closely with relevant authorities on ground and have initiated an internal investigation to ascertain the cause of the accident," said the steel plant authorities in a statement.
