A powerful earthquake measuring 7.8 magnitude on Richter scale hit southeast Turkey and Syria early Monday.

According to the US Geological Survey, the quake was centered about 33 kilometers (20 miles) from Gaziantep. It was centred 18 kilometres (11 miles) deep
