The Redmi Note 12 Pro is priced starting at Rs 24,999 in India which is a pretty significant raise from the Redmi Note 11 Pro. Xiaomi says, this is due to the increase in the ASP or the Average Selling Price because Indians are buying more expensive smartphones than ever before. Here are 5 reasons to buy the Redmi Note 12 Pro and 2 reasons why you should skip it.

Unlike the Redmi Note 11 series, this year, all phones in the Redmi Note 12 series support 5G connectivity allowing users to experience super fast internet speeds as Jio and Airtel roll out 5G networks to more cities across India. The Note 12 Pro supports over 15 5G bands offering speeds of upto 1 Gbps.

The Redmi Note 12 Pro has a similar profile as the Redmi Note 11 Pro but it has been refined with elements such as a new and larger camera module. The build is still plastic, owing to its affordable nature, but it is quite thin and lightweight. The Redmi Note 12 Pro is also IP53-rated.

The Note 12 Pro has a tried and tested main camera that uses a Sony IMX766 sensor which captures colours beautifully and with great accuracy. There is very minimal shutter lag in low-lit conditions but the camera shines in daylight giving us good clarity, exposure and details both in landscape shots and portraits.

Reason 1 Sub-par secondary cameras: As much as I liked the primary camera performance, the secondary cameras, namely the 8MP ultrawide and 2MP macro camera just don’t make the cut for a phone that’s priced upwards of Rs 24,000.The ultrawide camera isn’t in tune with the main camera in terms of colours while the macro camera requires tons of light and lots of patience to get a usable picture.

This one is a straight-up bummer for those who use a microSD card. Unlike the Note 11 Pro, the Note 12 Pro does not support a microSD card which means that you will have to choose between the three storage variants on offer. Those still using a microSD card and who want to upgrade to the Redmi Note 12 Pro, you will sadly have to let go of the SD card support.

If you’re looking for a no-nonsense phone that supports you in your daily endeavours, the Redmi Note 12 Pro easily fits the bill. Then again, there are more blingy options available in the market such as the Nothing Phone 1 which currently retails starting at around Rs 27k or the Realme 10 Pro+ with its curved display priced starting from Rs 25k. In my opinion, though, the Redmi Note 12 Pro offers a more comprehensive package and has a better price-to-value ratio than the competition.
