The new GPT-4 offer more accurate results and has subtle differences from GPT-3.5. OpenAI says that GPT-4 produces safer and more useful responses than the previous generation.

OpenAI’s GPT-4 model can get more creative and tackles technical writing tasks with more ease, like when composing songs and writing screenplays.

The new GPT-4 supports visual input. This means that your prompt can include images as inputs and the AI chatbot can generate captions, provide a description and analyze the image. The visual input feature has not been released to the public and is being internally tested.

Unlike GPT-3.5, the new GPT-4 is capable of handling over 25,000 words of text. This allows users to create long-form content, search and analyse a large data set.

While ChatGPT doesn't have internet access, GPT-4 gets the ability to read web pages. In an example, the prompt given included a link to a web page and specific information was sought from this page and GPT-4 model could correctly provide an answer.

One of the biggest limitations of LLM is hallucinations which are when you get a confident response but it is factually incorrect. OpenAI claims that GPT-4 scored 40% higher than GPT-3.5 in factual evaluations, which significantly reduces hallucination.

The GPT-4 model has outperformed ChatGPT as it scored higher percentile in exams like Uniform Bar Exam, Biology Olympiad and more. In the Uniform Bar exam, GPT 3.5 scored 10% while GPT-4 scored 90%. In a Biology Olympiad test, GPT-4 scored 99% over GPT-3.5 which scored 31%.

OpenAI says that GPT-4 is 82% less likely to respond to requests for disallowed content and 40% more likely to produce factual responses than GPT-3.5.

Unlike ChatGPT based on GPT-3.5, GPT-4 is available for ChatGPT Plus subscribers only. The GPT-4 API will also be available for developers to use in apps and services. Microsoft has also confirmed that its new Bing AI search is powered by GPT-4 which is customized for search.
