By: TN Education Desk, Times Now DigitalMeta Inc is preparing for more layoffs. Shortly after announcing 10,000 layoffs, another round of job cuts is expected. As per reports, 4,000 employees are expected to be fired this week.
As per Bloomberg, Meta Layoffs are expected to impact employees across Instagram, WhatsApp and Facebook - the three major social media platforms under the company.
Meta will also be reportedly laying off people working for the Reality Labs and Quest Hardware divisions.
In an internal memo circulated, Meta informed employees about the layoffs across Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp, Reality Labs and Quest Hardware .
On March 14, 2023, Meta CEO announced that another 10,000 employees would be fired in Meta's latest round of layoffs. Along with this, 5000 additional roles will also be eliminated.
Before the official announcement in March, Mark Zuckerberg had shared his plans for Meta's Year of Efficiency for 2023. He also stated in various internal meetings that the company and workforce would be restructured, and Meta does not need "managers managing managers"
Mark Zuckerberg's exact comment regarding Year of Efficiency was " we expect to announce restructurings and layoffs in our tech groups in late April and then business groups in late May".
In November 2022, Meta announced that it would be firing around 11,000 people, which amounted to 13 percent of its workforce. This round of layoffs was seen as the largest layoffs across Meta and in the tech industry.
Meta spokesperson and officials have declined to comment regarding this recent development on Meta Layoffs across Instragram, WhatsApp and Facebook.
