Ahmedabad on Sunday witnessed heavy rains and hailstorms, bringing down the city's mercury levels.

The city residents took to social media to share visuals of unseasonal rain and hailstorm. Many opined such heavy showers are usually unlikely in May.
Due to the heavy rain, the closing ceremony of the IPL 2023 final between Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad was delayed.

Visuals of the downpour within the stadium have also flooded the internet with many expressing concerns over the uncertainty of the match.
Heavy thundershowers also affected traffic movement in the city and waterlogging was reported from low-lying areas.
Some city residents asked why the weather officials failed to predict the heavy rain. "It is not the Ahmedabad stadium one of the modernized stadium. Did they not have a forecast for such heavy rain," a netizen B Sivakumar asked. Several others also expressed similar opinions.
Sharing visuals of hail stones, another resident Rajesh Shah asked, "Is this an uncut pair of diamonds? No..it's hail stones falling with the rainwater in Ahmedabad just now."
The Regional Meteorological Centre in Ahmedabad had predicted "light to moderate rain /thundershowers at isolated places in the city."
