WORDLE

Wordle is a web-based word game created and developed by Welsh software engineer Josh Wardle and owned and has been published by The New York Times Company since 2022.

No other word or puzzle game has created more Buzz in recent times than Wordle, because it is simple, shareable, and ad-free.

The rules of the game are simple and straightforward.

Players have just one simple objective - guess the day's five-letter word by entering characters in a box.

Each player is given only six chances to get the word right.

As one enters the letters, they are highlighted in different colours to indicate if they are in the correct spot (green) or wrong (yellow). If a letter is not in the target word at all, they are marked in grey.

Worlde has now been adapted into other languages due to its growing popularity across the globe. An open-source version of the basic Wordle game was created by Hannah Park, and modified by linguist Aiden Pine to handle a larger array of character sets, making it amenable to a larger set of languages.
