Section 144 Imposed In Roorkee
Roorkee: Violent clashes broke out in at Belra village in Uttarakhand 's Roorkee on Monday evening when locals indulged in arson over an alleged murder of a person. Many were injured as locals clashed with police and even pelted stones.
To ensure the law and order situation and to avoid any untoward incident, the district administration authorities issued prohibitory orders under Cr PC Section 144. Security forces have also been deployed in the entire village area to bring the situation under control.
Nearly half a dozen personnel were injured as miscreants allegedly pelted stones at the police teams during the clashes. They also set some vehicles ablaze and police had to use tear gas to disperse the mob.

More than 24 people have been arrested for rioting and arson so far, police said. The clashes began after a person died in Belra village and the villagers alleged that he was murdered. They were unsatisfied with the investigation and said that the probe failed to find the real cause.
SSP Haridwar Ajay Singh told ANI, "One person had died and they (villagers) are alleging that the person was murdered but nothing was found in the investigation.""Some miscreants pelted stones at the police today. More than 24 people have been arrested. It seems (attack on police) was done under a conspiracy," Singh said while adding that an investigation is being done.
"The situation is under control, and we are further looking into the matter," he added.
