Bengaluru: Autorickshaw Driver Kills Man, Injures Brother Over Fare Dispute

An autorickshaw driver was arrested after he killed a man and injured his brother over a fare related dispute in Bengaluru. A case was registered against the accused under section 302 of Indian Penal Code.

Bengaluru: An autorickshaw driver was arrested by arrested by police for killing a man and injuring his brother over increased fare dispute, police said on Tuesday.
The deceased, identified as Awod (28), and injured brother Ayub(26) had boarded autorickshaw from Chandapura go travel to Yesvantpur, where they had to board a train en route Odisha, police said.
Both the deceased and the injured brother worked as labourers in the city.
The accused autorickshaw driver, identified as SR Ashwath, had agreed on a fare of Rs 100.
“Once in the auto, the driver, midway, started demanding ₹1,500 per head, which is is ₹3,000 in total... the brothers refused to pay the amount, which led to heated arguments between the three,” said Hindustan Times, quoting the inspector of Subramanya Nagar.
The accused started punching the deceased on his face, abdomen and chest after the argument heated.
The patrolling police staff noticed Awod and further took him to a nearby hospital, where he was declared brought dead.
A case has been registered against the accused, under section 302 of the Indian Penal Code.
Further investigation is underway, police said.
