Satpura Bhawan Blaze Doused After Over 13 Hours

Bhopal: A massive fire broke out at the Satpura Bhawan - a government building in Bhopal housing offices of various departments of the Madhya Pradesh government - on Monday night and several fire tenders were rushed to spot, who finally managed to douse the flames after over 13-hours of tiring firefighting efforts.
Morning visuals from the scene showed smoke billowing from the government building, which was on fire until this morning. No casualties have been reported in the blaze as people were safely evacuated before the fire spread, said an official.
Ashish Singh, District Collector, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh shared the update and said, "The fire has been brought under control. All agencies including CISF, Army came together to douse the fire and it has been controlled."

Earlier, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has dialled defence minister Rajnath Singh, seeking support from the Indian Air Force to douse the blaze. Special IAF aircraft flew to Bhopal to help douse the fire. All agencies including CISF and Army came together to douse the fire and it has been controlled.
Indian Air Force plane AN-52 and MI-15 chopper joined the dousing operation in the night. On directions of the CM, state Home Minister Narottam Mishra and the medical education minister reached the spot to take stock of the situation.

Shivraj Singh Chouhan also apprised Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Home Minister Amit Shah about the fire, an official said.
The fire started on the third floor, housing the regional office of Tribal Welfare Department around 4 pm on Monday and spread up to the sixth floor. Visuals showed massive blazes engulfing the floors of the building. As the blazes came in contact with air conditioners and some gas cylinders, there were multiple blasts.
