Air India has taken disciplinary action against two pilots following a recent breach of cockpit norms where an unauthorized woman was allowed into the cockpit of flight AI-445 from Delhi to Leh, according to an IANS report. The airline's decision was prompted by a complaint from the cabin crew, who expressed concerns about the violation of cockpit regulations.
In response to the incident, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) confirmed their awareness of the issue. The IANS report stated that appropriate measures are being implemented in accordance with established procedures.
To ensure a thorough investigation, Air India has formed a committee that will carefully examine the events surrounding the violation, aiming for a comprehensive understanding of the situation.
An Air India spokesperson emphasized the airline's commitment to a just culture approach, stating that they have zero tolerance for deliberate breaches of regulations. Any breaches are treated seriously, and individuals found in violation will face appropriate sanctions.
"Air India has a just culture approach to all safety related events and has a zero tolerance for deliberate breaches of regulations. Such breaches are dealt with on a serious basis and sanctions will be imposed on those who are in breach of the regulations," IANS reported quoting Air India spokesperson.
This incident comes only a month after Air India was fined Rs 30 lakh by the DGCA for a previous breach of cockpit norms. The recurrence of such breaches underscores the importance of stricter adherence to established regulations within the airline. Air India's response to this incident demonstrates their commitment to upholding safety standards and reinforces the need for vigilance.
