After a gruelling two months of action, the 2022 Indian Premier League (IPL) will come to an end tonight with a blockbuster finale between the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Gujarat Titans (GT) at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday (May 28).
On the one hand, the Hardik Pandya-led GT is looking to lift the trophy for the second consecutive time in history. On the other hand, CSK is looking to become the joint most successful team in history alongside arch-rivals Mumbai Indians (MI) with a historic fifth title.
The winner of the cracking clash, which will be played in front of a capacity crowd of more than 100,000 people at the iconic venue. The winner of the big clash will lift the beautiful looking IPL trophy and be crowned champions of the 16th edition of the tournament.
The standout feature of the trophy is a Sanskrit line that is inscribed on it. The phrase that is written on the trophy is 'Yatra Pratibha Avsara Prapnotihi.' This means 'Where Talent Meets Opportunity,' which perfectly sums up what the IPL is all about.

Both CSK and GT were the two standout teams of the league, as they finished first and second on the table, respectively. CSK and GT have faced each other twice in the tournament, and both teams have won one game each. Quite ironically, the opening game of the tournament was played between these two teams in Ahmedabad, which saw GT seal victory by a five-wicket margin. CSK took revenge by winning the first qualifier by 15 runs at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
CSK are the first team in history to play in the IPL final for the 10th time. They have won four finals while being on the losing side on five occasions. CSK lifted the trophy in 2010, 2011, 2018, and 2021.
