Gujarat Titans are currently taking on Chennai Super Kings in the final of the IPL 2023 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. However, the rain gods have once again shown their dreaded presence in the IPL 2023, as the match has been halted for some time now as heavy showers have affected the city of Ahmedabad. While GT scored 214 in the first innings, CSK could only manage to score 4 from 3 balls before rain halted play.
The question that remains is who will win the IPL trophy if the match is called off right now due to rain. If the match is called off due to rain right now, Gujarat Titans will be the team to lift the trophy. This is because GT finished on top of the points table in the league stage with 20 points. It will be a heartbreak for CSK fans, as they would want a full match to take place right now.
The match was scheduled to be played initially on Sunday, May 28. But the summit clash was called off due to rain. Hence, the match has moved to Monday, May 29 which was the reserve day for the clash. The good news is that rain has stopped at Ahmedabad, and the umpires will do a final pitch inspection on 10.45 pm. The game is most likely to be a truncated game with a reduced target for CSK.
Gujarat Titans batted first and had a terrific start courtesy a solid 67-run opening stand between Shubman Gill and Wriddhiman Saha. The hero for GT in IPL 2023, Shubman Gill got out for 39 as MS Dhoni executed a vintage lightning stumping to get the young opener out. Wriddhiman Saha went on to score 54 as he handled the middle overs wonderfully for the defending champions. However, it was Sai Sudharsan who led the charge for GT. He smashed 96 from 49 balls, and guided them to 214, the highest team total ever in an IPL final.
