FACT CHECK: Video Campaign Claiming 'No Vote to BJP' Ahead of Karnataka Polls is FAKE!

Karnataka Elections 2023: Ahead of Karnataka Assembly Election 2023, a video showing Non-Resident Indians (NRI) campaign against the Bharatiya Janata Party, the incumbent party in Karnataka has been doing rounds on social media. Holding a placard, Indians residing in England, Finland, Germany and parts of the US can be seen campaigning against the saffron party in the 45-second clip.
The video was also shared by several social media users and Congress leaders with the "KarnatakaElections2023" hashtag.

However, when Times Now conducted a fact check the video turned out to be old and not related to the forthcoming elections in Karnataka scheduled to be held in a single phase on May 10.

'NO VOTE TO BJP' CAMPAIGN IS 2 YEARS OLD

Videos and photos that are going viral are more than two years old. If you look at the placard closely, it becomes visible that the same was written in Bangla.

"There is no division in Bengal," the placard read, which hinted that the video might be related to Bengal elections which were held in 2021.

'No Vote to Mamata'

On the other hand, wearing a white T-shirt with his 'No Vote to Mamata' slogan on it, leader of the opposition in West Bengal assembly Suvendu Adhikari recently addressed a rally in Paschim Medinipur district, urging the people to vote for any party in the panchayat elections but not the Trinamool.

Criticising the 'No Vote to BJP' campaign ahead of the 2021 assembly elections, Adhikari coined the 'No Vote to Mamata' slogan, which he used extensively during the Sagardighi by-polls in Murshidabad district. The Congress with the support of the Left Front won the by-election last month in a major setback to the Trinamool.
