New Delhi: India on Wednesday (June 07) recorded 123 cases of Covid-19 infection in the last 24 hours, according to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
According to the available data, the active case load has continued a downward streak and is presently logged at 2,831, the lowest in months. Since last month, the covid cases have seen a significant decline as the peak, which caused massive infections began ending early last month.
According to health experts, the new sub-variant - XBB.1.16 or Arcturus was behind the spike in number of infections across the country that began late in February.
With the active infections coming down daily, the ministry data has pegged the recovery rate at 98.97 percent.
According to the numbers, the death toll has reached 5,31,884 as one new fatality was recorded from national capital New Delhi. The health ministry has announced the fatality rate at 1.19 per cent.
The daily positivity rate, according to the ministry data, is 3.52 per cent and the weekly positivity rate was pegged at 5.42 per cent with the total number of those who recuperated from the disease reaching 44,45,7379.
According to the ministry's data, 2,20,67,13,866 doses of Covid vaccine have been administered so far under the nationwide inoculation drive, and 615 injections were administered in a single day.
