FACT CHECK: Have We Discovered Another Lithium Reserve In Rajasthan? Here's What GSI Said

GSI terms reports on large lithium reserves found in Rajasthan as 'baseless' (Representative image)
New Delhi: Several media reports have claimed that another lithium reserve has been found in Degana area, Nagaur district, Rajasthan. Soon, the social media was also flooded with such claims. However, the Geological Survey Of India (GSI) has termed these reports as "baseless". There was no such information given neither by the regional headquarters nor by the central headquarters of the GSI.
The GSI further clarified that it is carrying out exploration for tungsten, lithium and associated rare metals mineralisation in the Degana area, Nagour district, Rajasthan, since 2019-20 and the drilling work is still under progress.
Whether there is a lithium reserve or not will be established only after the exploration work is complete.
