Mumbai: Western Railway services were disrupted on Tuesday afternoon due to a signal failure near Malad station. The signal failure occurred at around 11:45 AM and affected both up and down slow corridors. As a result, trains were running late and there were long queues at stations.
The Western Railway has apologized for the inconvenience caused and said that it is working to restore normalcy. The signal failure is still under investigation.
The signal failure caused a lot of inconvenience to commuters. Many people were late for work or appointments. Some people had to take long detours to reach their destinations.
The Western Railway has urged commuters to bear with the inconvenience and said that it is working to restore normalcy as soon as possible.
WR spokesperson said, "There has been a Signaling failure due to a cable defect near Malad station since 11.45 am. WR’s team is on the job and Down Slow has been put right. The other lines too, are being attended to and will be rectified at the earliest."
A senior Western Railway official said, "The exact cause could not be detected and hence a new cable is being laid. The work was scheduled to be completed by 4 pm."
