A summer transfer window will not be complete without a Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid switch. It has not taken long for reports to emerge this time around as the Frenchman expressed his desire to not continue his stay with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).
According to reliable reports in the French media that emerged late on Monday evening, Mbappe sent a letter to PSG officials expressing his desire to not take up the contract extension option in his current deal, which ends in 2024 and could have been extended till 2025.
With PSG not wanting to risk losing the player on a free transfer in 2024, it seems likely that he will be sold this summer. Mbappe's desire to play for Real Madrid and the 14-time European Champions' love for the player are well documented, and it took no time for links to emerge about the possible transfer.
However, Mbappe was left fuming with these reports in the media. The 2018 World Cup-winner took to social media and stated that all these links are lies. Mbappe revealed his desire to stay at the club this season and stated that he is very happy in Paris.

"LIES. At the same time, the bigger it is, the more it passes. I have already said that I will continue next season at PSG, where I am very happy," Mbappe wrote on Twitter.
Earlier in the day, Mbappe revealed in a statement that he never discussed the option of extending his contract with PSG and that the decision had been made almost a year ago, on July 15, 2022.
"Kylian Mbappe and his entourage confirm that this matter has not been discussed since over the course of the year, except a fortnight ago to announce the sending of the letter. No potential contract extension has been mentioned." Mbappe told news agency AP.
"After maintaining publicly in recent weeks that he would be a PSG player next season, Kylian Mbappe has not asked to leave this summer and has just confirmed to the club that he would not be activating the extra year," he added.
Mbappe was set for a move to Real Madrid as far back as two years ago, but PSG refused to sanction the sale. Last year, Mbappe's move to the Las Bloncos seemed a formality as a free agent, but he signed a new deal with the French giants at the last minute.
