New Delhi: A 32-year-old man who was absconding and wanted in multiple cases, including two murders, has been arrested by the police in the Mehrauli area on Tuesday.
The man, identified as Jaimeet, also known as Monu, hails from Jhajjar district in Haryana and had a reward of Rs 60,000 on his head, announced by the Haryana Police for information leading to his arrest.
The Special Commissioner of Police (Crime), Ravindra Singh Yadav, stated that they received information about Jaimeet's plan to meet his associate in the Mehrauli area to plot the murder of rival gang members.
It is worth noting that he always carried firearms and did not hesitate to open fire on a police team.
"Based on the information, a trap was set near Mehrauli, where he was arrested while coming from the Gurugram road," Yadav said. The police recovered a pistol and two bullets from his possession.
During the interrogation, it was revealed that Jaimeet had been arrested in a case under the Arms Act in 2007 and was subsequently imprisoned. It was during his time in jail that he came into contact with members of various gangs.
"After his release, he continued engaging in criminal activities and was arrested multiple times by the Haryana Police in different cases. He was influenced by Kapil, also known as Kallu, who was imprisoned and associated with the Gogi Gang," Yadav explained.
According to the police, earlier this year, he was responsible for two murders in the Jhajjar district.
"After committing the murders, he went into hiding in Nangloi and was assigned the task of targeting members of rival gangs, for which he conducted reconnaissance," the officer added.
