Cyclone Biparjoy: Trains Cancelled In Parts Of Gujarat As IMD Warns About Flood, Power Disruption

CYCLONE BIPARJOY LATEST NEWS UPDATE: Indian Meteorological Department has issued warning for parts of Gujarat, which falls on the coastal areas, in view of the very severe cyclonic storm Biparjoy. The areas likely to be affected are Kachchh, Devbhumi Dwarka, Porbandar, Jamnagar and Morbi districts.

IMD has said that damage to houses, both thatched houses and kutcha houses, is expected as the cyclone prepares itself to entre Gujarat's Mandvi and Pakistan's port city of Karachi on June 15. The damage is expected in the region of Kachchh, Devbhumi Dwarka, Porbandar, Jamnagar, Morbi, Junagarh and Rajkot districts. Even power outage is expected in the region as the very severe cyclonic storm can uproot power and communication poles in the region and also affect farm land, causing damage to standing crops, plantations and orchards.

Cyclone Biparjoy is likely to cross Saurashtra and Kutch and coastal areas adjoining Pakistan, between Mandvi and Karachi by June 15. The very severe cyclonic storm will cross with the region with a maximum sustained wind speed of 125-135 kmph gusting to 150 kmph.

Trains, either originating or terminating in the coastal areas of Gujarat, will remain cancelled or short-terminated till July 15. Due to this, about 95 trains were cancelled in the region, according to Western Railways.
