IIT Kharagpur Student Suicide Case: Calcutta HC Allows Narco Test on All Suspects

Indian Institute of Technology, IIT Kharagpur student suicide case probe is ongoing and the Calcutta High Court has allowed the Narco test on all suspects. HC had constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the death of IIT Kharagpur student Faizan Ahmed. As per the reports, the decision has been taken after the second autopsy report of the student which refers to the Homicidal injuries.
"The newly appointed investigation team may appoint officers for the purpose of expediency. All parties must cooperate in the probe given the new evidence that has emerged in the second post-mortem report," the court ordered.
23-year-old Faizan Ahmad's died last year. IIT Kharagpur in October claimed that the student died by suicide. On the contrary, the parents of the deceased student filed a petition in the Calcutta High Court saying he was murdered.
Upon flagging several loopholes in the first autopsy, Calcutta High Court ordered the exhumation of Faizan's body for the second autopsy. The body was taken to Kolkata by a team of West Bengal police, where the second autopsy was conducted by a court-appointed expert.
Faizan Ahmad's body was found in the hostel room on the college premises on October 14, 2022.
The family has alleged that the student was a victim of ragging and the college management is trying to cover up the case.
