In a scary incident, a huge crocodile entered a house and caused a stir in Darga village of Athani taluk, near the Krishna river in the early hours of Sunday. The family residing there was awakened by the distressed bleating of a goat attacked buy the reptile. With the assistance of their neighbors, the family managed to capture the crocodile and hand it over to the forest department.
According to sources from the forest department, crocodiles often venture out of rivers in search of sustenance when the water levels recede. In this particular instance, the crocodile had attacked the goat before being rescued. Hearing about the unusual visitor, local villagers joined forces to capture the intruding crocodile. After successfully securing the reptile to a tree using ropes, they promptly notified the forest department.
The following morning, forest department staff arrived at the scene and took custody of the crocodile. The creature measured around 12 feet in length and weighed over a quintal, adding to the remarkable nature of the incident. It is not uncommon for crocodiles and other aquatic creatures to explore new territories in search of food when the water levels in rivers diminish, as confirmed by Umar Mullah, a local youth familiar with the situation.
